DAC8814EVM: DAC 8814 EVM not working

Hello,

We have brought a DAC 8814 EVM. I have been trying to drive it , but it was not working. I have tied MSB pin (J1.1) to GND and have given all power supplies as follows. I checked the voltages using the multimeter also.

J3.1 +15V

J3.2 -15V

J3.3 +5V

J3.4 -5V

J3.5 GND

J3.6 GND

J3.10 5V

When I switch ON power supply, board is ON and all channels show 5V output voltage. When I connect reset pin (J2.T 19) to ground also I get 5V only in all channels. Board dont reset.

Jumper settings are :

SW1-SW4 : LEFT

W1-W4 : 1 AND 2 SHORT

W5-W8 : 1 AND 2 SHORT

W9 ,W10 : 1 AND 2 SHORT

Please help me in finding why this happens so and help me solve problem.

Hi Shalini,

Firstly I think it would good to verify the state of the MSB and /RS pin during your experiment. You said that you are using J1.1 as the MSB pin, but looking at the schematic for the EVM it shows MSB is connected to J2T.1. Ensure you using a jumper to tie J2T.1 to J2T.2 to set the MSB. /RS is located on pin J2T.19 as well.

Please let me know if that was the issue.

Shalini,

Does the EVM behave normally otherwise? Can you change the DAC using SPI commands. In addition, please measure the voltage across R22 (MSB pull-up), it must be +5V if the MSB is properly set low.

Hello,

There was a fault in my high signal level. I drove high signal 3.3 to MSB. Will it cause problem ? It is greater than 2.4V.
