AFE4300EVM-PDk

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE4300

hello sir/madam

I am using AFE4300 EVM PDK kit for body composition measurement purpose,i have some dought on that.

1.In AFE4300 Device GUI clock frequency is 1.024Mhz .haw that frequency is devided in circuit ?

2. In AFE4300 Device GUI ,In Device comfigration- BCM control why IOUT0 terminal for the FB0 ,IOUT1 terminal for the FB1,VSENSE1 terminal to  the + dial. and VSENSE0 terminal to  the – dial is connected?

3.In AFE4300 Device GUI -In ADC control haw connection is done if we select  FWR mode?If we select I/Q mode?

  • In SBA202 pdf ,in section 3.2.1 he first network is resistive (500 Ω and 1005 Ω), the second network is a series RC network, and the third network is a parallel RC network in series with a series RC network , for impdenace measurement then my question is where this network is connected in AFE4300evm pdk kit during impedance measurement
  • Hi Shital,

    Here are my answers,
    1) CLK frequency of 1.024MHz is generated by the MSP430 of MMB3 host board. You have an option to give external CLK as well.
    2) You need two terminals to inject the current (i.e. IOUTs) and two terminals to sense the voltage developed across the body (i.e.VSENSEs). You have option to connect any IOUTs to FB0 or FB1. Similarly you can connect any VSENSEs to + or - terminal of sense amplifier.
3)For FWR mode connect the dial to "BCM AFE I". In IQ mode you need to two measurements , first with "BCM AFE I" for Real component and "BCM AFE Q" for Imaginary component.

  • The impedance network shown in SBAA202 are only for reference . They are connected to the EVM externally.
  • Haw to connect externally impedance Network to kit? And where in kit?
  • I need information about why IOUT0 connected to FB0 and IOUT1 to FB1 and VSENSE0 to positive and VSENSE0 to negative dial ?
  • In one PDF I read that AFE4300 evm pdk allow selection of six different points on human body to inject current and on kit six points are available then which exactly out of six points we select and why?
  • Hi Archana,

You can connect external impedance network using J83/J36.

Out of 6 IOUTs pins you need two pins to inject the excitation current to the body. That is why one is connected to FB0 and other is connected to FB1. You can connect any of the IOUTs to FB0/FB1. Excitation current follows as follows : FB1 >> IOUT pin >> Body >> IOUT pin >> FB0.
Due to 6 IOUTs pin , we can inject current at 6 points of the body. However if you want to inject at a single point connect an electrode to a particular IOUT and select that as FB1, also select another IOUT as return path for the current and connect that to FB0.
