DAC8760: Output format

The format for the DAC Data Register of the DAC8760 is unsigned straight binary.  The corresponding transfer functions is listed on page 28 of the DS.  Please let me know if this answers your question.

Unsigned straight binary format generally describes a positive number increase, in this case, ranging from decimal value 0 to 2^(n)-1, where n is 16.  Therefore the total range is 0 to 65535. If you use these decimal values in conjunction with the bipolar transfer function presented on page 27, you will notice that code 0 refers to the Zero-scale value of -(GAIN*VREF)/2, and code 65535 translates to a Full-scale value of  [(VREF*GAIN*65535/65536)-(GAIN*VREF)/2], which is one LSB away from a (VREF*GAIN)/2 value. I've included a link to some reference material that explains digital coding schemes and conventions.  Since the DAC8760 is capable of both a unipolar or bipolar output range, the digital format nomenclature of straight binary is used for both ranges.
