LM98640: Questions for no reference level output's sensor

Part Number: LM98640

Hi team,

Can you please answer the basic questions for LM98640 (industrial version) for a customer?

1. In datasheet, “The Reference Level signal must be connected to the OSX+ pin, and the Video Level signal connected to the OSX- pin.” is specified.

-. In case of no reference level output of CCD sensor, how should OSX+ pin be handled? How should the reference signal be inputted?

-. Is it possible not to input CLAMP signal at below timing picture? If so, how should the reference for each pixel control?

Sam Lee

  • Hi,
Sorry for our late reply. Since this was posted on Medical Forum, our team missed it.
We have two catagolies of sensor. "Sample & Hold Mode " or CDS(as known as Correlated doble sampling).
If the sensor is Sample and Hold type, you still can use without external reference input. VCP pin can be connected externally to OSx+ then it becaomes reference voltage.
If the sensor is CDS type, sensor do not provide refernce voltage. CDS signal include its reference information. CLAMP signal is generated by LM98714 internaly from CLKIN. Customer needs to adjust CLAMP timing via register settings.
  • Thanks Shinya.
