ADS6125: Power supply

Part Number: ADS6125
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04208, DAC7760,

I'm going to design a shared power supply i.e. ADS6125, DAC7760 and LMK04208 will share a power supply. The load 1 is ADS7760. Is it ok?

  • Hi,

one thing I notice is that you are adding up the typical current consumption numbers for the three devices you wish to power but are only choosing an LDO that has a *max* current output rating that is just barely larger than your *typical* current consumption.  You have 500mA max capability for a load of 490mA typical.   You will need more margin than that on the current source capability, enough margin to cover what the *max* current consumption could be for each of your loads, plus the possibility of any extra transient current that might be required during startup conditions.      Since the devices are all from different product groups ( the ADC is from the High Speed Data Converter group where you are posting, but the DAC is from our Precision group and the clock chip is from our Clocking group, and the power supplies are yet a different group) I can only say that the 'Filter' that you show to isolate the three loads should be sufficient to keep one of the loads from possibly coupling noise into one of the other loads.   I would suspect the clocking device might be a more critical device for keeping the supply clean and low noise, but that would be discussed in the clocking forum I believe.

    Regards,

    Richard P.

  • Thanks for your support.
I have consulted the clocking forum but there has not been answered.
