DAC161P997: NC pin in DAC161P997

Part Number: DAC161P997

I can not connect via SWIF link in simplex mode stably, I've connected NC pin (11) to ground in pcb layout, can it cause problem?

  • Arash,

The datasheet states that pin 11 should not be connected to anything, so it is possible that it is causing an issue. I will try to confirm if it could be damaging the component or limiting operation by being connected to ground. In the meantime, try double checking if the part is correctly configured on the PCB. If possible, please share the schematic. You could also try disconnecting the NC pin from GND by modifying the board to see if normal operation resumes.

Let me know if that helps,
    Paul
  • Paul,
thanks for your reply, I can disconnect the NC pin from GND by modifying the board, but before that I have to know that if the device damaged or not, if damaged reassemble by a new one.
So first of all please confirm if it could be damaging the component or limiting operation by being connected to ground?
    Thanks alot
  • Arash,

I have looked into the design and the pin is reserved for some test function and should be left disconnected. While I think it is unlikely that the device is damaged, it may be prudent to replace it to save time.

    Thanks!
    Paul
