Problem:
We(TAIWAN) encountered some problems with ADS1298EVM evaluation board. Could you please help to identify the source(s), which causes these problems: 1. When we launched EVM software and had the evaluation board connected to the computer, it showed the error message “Download failed, reset the hardware.” 2. Chip TMS320VG5507 was getting very hot and burning. 3. PC cannot recognize the USB device at all. Thank you very much in advance for your great help.

Hi,

If you removed the ADS1298 board from the MMB0 to do testing with the MSP430, you may have mis aligned the power and I/O connectors when putting the boards back together. The boards were shipped as 'tested pairs' so everything should have been properly connected when you recieved the kit. Can you confirm that it was working initially?

My the ADS1298 board from the MMB0 show windows Firmware is ads1198?? why?......................download is error,what do you do?

Mr Jia-hong -

We have recently posted an update to the software. What you describe is possibly a symptom of the CS line not being driven low.

The latest software contains updated firmware (which is downloaded when the software is run), so this should fix your problem.

Thanks,it is download success. But I am an problem ,Multiple Device Configurations(standard configuration) for ads1298 to START, it is po LI and po HI. The second Ads1298 of DRAY Need to connect to the MCU(MSP430)?

Yan,

I am assuming you are referring to page 35 of the datasheet, where it shows DRDY of ‘Device 1’ not connected?

Since the devices are synchronized with the START signal, the delay from START to DRDY is fixed for a fixed data rate. So, as long as the two devices have the same configurations, then the data acquisition times will be the same. Thereby, this makes it unnecessary to monitor a second DRDY signal.
