DAC8564: Bit precision

Part Number: DAC8564

The DAC8564 contains 16 bit precision. I would like to use connect an arduino uno board to it and only use 12 bits. Is it possible to program the hardware in a way such that I only use 12 out of the 16 bits of precision?
