ADC32RF45EVM: Data capture

Part Number: ADC32RF45EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC32RF45

Hello,

I want to capture an analog input signal of 20MHz using ADC32RF45EVM and TSW14J56EVM.

Can I check the operation of attached file using these EVM?

Please refer to the attached file for further details.

Best regards,

  • Hi,

from what I see in the diagram, you want to capture about 250,000 samples from the ADC into the TSW14J56 and then transfer those samples up to the PC and be ready to do it all again in 10ms.   Is that about right?

The TSW14J56 is not a real-time capture solution.  The USB transfer is software based and is dependent on the Windows operating system.  There is no guarantee of when software operations get scheduled and when they get done on the PC.  At any point in time the PC could get busy with other stuff and take more than 10ms to get back to the HSDCPro.    The TSW14J56 with HSDCPro is meant to  allow evaluation of our various ADC and DAC EVMS - to capture data and upload it to the PC for analysis and evaluation.   Real-time scheduling of continuing operation as part of a larger system is outside the scope of the capture cards.

  • Hi Richard,

Thank you so much for the reply.

I am sorry for the insufficient explanation.
Actually we want to use ADC EVM and Capture EVM
to sample data at 2Gsps rate.

    Data Width = 128usec
    Data Period = 10msec

After sampling this data we want to send this data to
    PC through EVM's USB.

So, we would like to know whether it is possible to
implement this with ADC32RF45EVM and TSW14J56EVM?

    Seishin

  • Hi,

I do not know what you mean by Data Width and Data Period, then, or exactly what it is you wish to do.  At a 2Gsps sample rate the TSW14J56 has enough memory depth to capture data for 128usec, or even enough memory to capture data for 10msec for that matter.   And then this data is uploaded by way of the USB to the PC running HSDCPro.   But if you are trying to put a bound on the amount of time it takes to get the data uploaded from the TSW14J56 to the PC then we cannot put a bound on that time.  It is under software control and not constrained.

  • Hi,

I would like to check back with you on this to see if my last statement was helpful.  My first understanding of your question did not seem to match what you replied that you were asking but your second asking of the question seemed to me to be the same, so I do not know if my second response was satisfactory.  If not then I would like to try again so we can settle the question.  Or if it is now clear, then I would like to know that I can close the issue.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Richard P.

  • Hi Richard,

    Thank you for the follow-up.
I am sorry for the delay.

Actually, our customer wants to buy 4 sets of these EVM.
As this EVM set is too expensive, we were worried if this EVM
could be used with the customer's requirement.

For time being please close this thread and if necessary,
please let us ask the questions after we purchase the EVM.

    Best Regards,
    Seishin
