PGA450Q1EVM: Update ESFR parameters through UART

Part Number: PGA450Q1EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00151, PGA450-Q1, PGA460-Q1

I am developing a pcb with a pga450q1. I wanted to communicate my microcontroller through uart port. I have right now a pga450q1evm and a TI-151.

Thanks to the ti ger board, I have seen the data comming throuh FIFO and it works fine. I could modify all ESFR registers to work with my transducer and measures are quite good.

Now I am trying with the smaller board (ti-151) and uart. I have tried so far to use command 0 to see if it is working, command 1 to fire a burst and command 5 to read all FIFO values.

I can generate a chart with the values from FIFO but they are not very accurate. I think I'd need to update ESFR parameters to work with my transducer too as I did with TI GER board.

I have seen there is a command (comm 3) to update EEPROM values but I haven't seen one for ESFR. Is there a way to do this? Could I update ESFR parameters through uart?

In case it is possible, could you show me an example? Or point me to a document where it is explained.

  • The ESFRs are hard-coded when the OTP memory is burned. However, the EVM-S/TIDA-00151 UART example code offers command 5, in which the ESFRs are artificially made available via EEPROM, and the burst+capture routine references the ESFR values from EEPROM rather than the hard-coded OTP memory space. See Table 3 for a list of all ESFRs accessible through EEPROM when using command5 on the EVM-S User's Guide at

    www.ti.com/.../sldu019b.pdf

If you are not using the Murata MA58MF14-7N & Mitsumi K5-R4 transformer for your initial evaluation, then I recommend you use the command5 method to set the ESFRs via EEPROM using command3 (EEPROM update) for use with command5 only (assuming you are still evaluating the PGA450-Q1 with the EVM-S).

Have you considered using the new PGA460-Q1 instead?
