PGA970: Waveform generator synchronization

Part Number: PGA970

Hi,

in a system with multiple PGA970, is there a way to synchronize the waveform generated by the device to the sensor, in order to avoid any interference?

Or can a device used as master and used to generate waveforms to more that one sensor and the others used only as "receivers" ?

Thanks

Umberto

  • Hi Umberto,

Since the PGA970 device integrates a programmable MCU, a software routine can be written where a GPIO port can be used to synchronize all Waveform Generators. In a master/slave configuration, the master device can toggle the state of the GPIO (output) while all other PGA970 devices can detect this change (GPIO input) and accordingly in software reset the Waveform generators which will have all devices sync up.

Another more simple way would be to simply take the PI pin of the master device and connect it to the PE pin of all devices in the system. This way there is only one Waveform Generator in the System. However in this case the Slave Devices will not be able to use the Phase Detection function.

    Regards,

    Viktor.
