DAC38RF83: DAC38RF83 Balun?

Part Number: DAC38RF83

Dears.

Customer is developing DAS.

The frequency range is from 700 Mhz to 2600 Mhz.

When Balun(1:1) is applied to the DAC38RF83 output, a large loss difference occurs depending on the frequency.

EVM uses Balun(2:1). Is there a reason for that?

Have to use only Balun(2:1)?

In the data sheet, it is 100 ohms.

The actual pattern of DAC38RF8xEVM is thick.

Impedance matching value of Balun of DAC38RF8xEVM?

Thank you.

  • Henry,

The DAC requires 100 termination for the output, so we use a 2:1 transformer as the output of the balun is single-ended 50 Ohms. You can use a 1:1 transformer but you will have to add a100 termination resistor across the outputs, which will cause you to lose power.
