ADS1100: I2C signal glitch

Part Number: ADS1100

Hello,

According to the test result of my customer, the I2C signal of ADS1100 is mixed with some glitch. The testing result and corresponding schematic are shown as below. What could be the possible reasons and what suggestions can we give to customer? Thanks.

  • Hello,

For the small glitches, it looks like they may be some sort of ground bounce. I don't think they are large enough to cause problems for communications.

For the large glitches, these may appear in I2C communication depending on the timing between the slave and master. The slave and master share the SDA data line, and during each byte transaction there is an ACK (acknowledge) by either the slave or the master on SDA. If the SDA line changes from being controlled by the slave to the master (or from master to slave) then there may be a glitch as the control changes from one to the other.

Unless the customer is seeing errors in communication, I do not think they are a problem.
