ADS124S06: Continuos mode conversion while changing channel

Part Number: ADS124S06

Hi to all,

I'm working on ADS124S06 ADC and I need to sampling from 3 channels of analog accelerometer; so I'm wondering what is the best choice to do that. I think to use the continuos conversion mode but I also need to change the acquisition channels in run-time but I don't know what exactly happen when the continuos mode is running and the channel is switched on and off. Please, could anyone help me to know if it is possible to switch channels while the cointinuous mode is running ?

Regards

  • Hi Davide,

The ADS124S06 always measures differentially (one input relative to another).  I will assume the accelerometer output is differential, so you could set up three input pair combinations such as AIN0/AIN1, AIN2/AIN3 and AIN4/AIN5.  If the output is single-ended (referenced to ground) then you could connect AINCOM to ground and the input mux pairs could be AIN0/AINCOM, AIN1/AINCOM and AIN2/AINCOM.  There are other options that could be used and you can use any available input combination as long as one input is assigned to AINP and the other to AINN in the Input Multiplexer register.

You can run in continuous conversion mode and the conversion will restart when the input mux is changed when using the WREG command.  The actions that take place where a conversion is restarted with a WREG command is described on page 67 in the paragraph under Figure 89.

    Best regards,
