I am trying to write a set of isolated SLI write functions to modify specific parameters within the DAC and not impact the remainder of the device.

1. specify the multi-duc and the path, then change the mixer gain from 0 to 6 dB.

2. specify the multi-duc and the path, then change the voltage gain, i.e, GAINAB or GAINCD.

3. specify the multi-duc and change the coarse gain, i.e., DACFS.

4. specify the multi-duc, the path and the nco and change the nco frequency, i.e., FREQ_NCOAB or FREQ_NCOCD.

I believe that what I am looking for is related to auto-sync, though my experimentation has not been yielding good results.

At this point I am looking into errors related to FPGA register mapping and the interface with the SLI read/write function in the FPGA. Once this is debugged, I would like to be certain that the targetted register writes are correct for each of these functions.

Can someone provide the register writes required for these functions?

Phil,

For these register writes, what would you prefer to use for the SYNC option for the digital blocks:

1. Auto Sync

2. SYSREF

3. Sync out from JESD

4. SIF sync

FYI, we normally use SIF sync with our configuration files we provide to customers.

Hi Jim,

Based on my understanding, option 1, Auto Sync, results in the immediate update following register write. This is currently what I am looking for.

If I understands options 2-4, these are used to make several changes together.

Please let me know if I am mistaken.

I should mention that I have a blend of PG1 and PG2 silicon. To my knowledge, our boards either contain a couple of one or the other, not a combination of the 2 versions per board.

I have received support regarding the differences in register fields between the two versions.

Phil,

Any time you make a change or multiple changes to the digital path, you need to re-sync the entire chain. Options 2-4 are just different ways of providing the sync source for the these blocks.
