ADS1299: Question about power consumtion of ADS1299 using EEG sensor.

Part Number: ADS1299

Hi, All.

I'd like to design EEG sensor module using ADS1299.

I'll design that modules as possible as very tiny and low power consume, using Battery operated for Wearable Device type.

It is not enough  power consume informations of datasheet  ADS1299.

So, I have questions like below this;

1. To Development kit of ADS1299 is applied to Avdd +5Vdc.  Is that special reason?

And, Is it possible to apply +3.3Vdc Avdd?

2. How many consumed Total Current of ADS1299 at +3.3Vdc applied to Dvdd and Avdd?

3. How many  consumed Current of ADS1299  at +5vdc applied to Avdd ?

4. How many  consumed Current of ADS1299  at +3.3vdc applied to Dvdd ?

Please, Inform me that questions,ASAP.

Best Regards,

Inho Jeon.

  • Hello Inho,

    Thank you for your questions.

    1. No, 3.3V cannot be used as the analog supply (AVDD). The Recommended Operating Conditions specify a minimum of 4.75 V and a maximum of 5.25 V. This should not be confused with the Absolute Maximum Ratings, which specify the voltages that can cause permanent damage to the device.
    2. 3.3 V for AVDD is not a valid condition.

The supply current for AVDD and DVDD can be found at the end of the Electrical Characteristics table in the datasheet. Note that the power consumption will vary depending on the supply voltage, enabled features (i.e. BIAS amplifier), and the number of active channels.

    Best Regards,
