ADS6125: Clock issue

Part Number: ADS6125
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2571,

I'm going to select LMX2571 as the clock generator. LMX2571 has tow options outputting clock - open drain and push pull. Regarding ADS6125 which type output is selected?

  • Hi,

if you are connecting the single ended clock from the LMX device to the clock inputs of the ADS6125 as per the AC coupled circuit recommendation of Figure 100 of the ADS6125 datasheet, then it doesn't matter which type of output driver you select for the LMX.   In Figure 100 the single ended clock is AC coupled to the ADC so that the ADC can re-bias the level of the clock to the common mode voltage that the ADC wants to see it at.    For the clock driver, select the type of output style that provides the largest signal amplitude for best performance, although Figure 23 of the datasheet indicates that AC performance is relatively flat over clock amplitude so it will not matter much.

    Regards,

    Richard P.
