ADS124S08: Single-end input

Part Number: ADS124S08

Dear SIr

May I know why figure1 is incorrect ??

In Figure1 ,how do I connect DVDD?? floating??

  • Hello Kai,

The diagrams shown on page 96 of the ADS124S08 datasheet do not necessarily show or intend to show all connections to the device.  The two figures you are referencing are meant to show the correct internal connections for a single-ended measurement (reference to analog ground) while the ADS124S08 is supplied by a unipolar supply.  Notice the internal switch position in the device block.  To correctly measure a single-ended input, the PGA must be disabled and bypassed.  The control is contained in the Gain Register Setting (register address 0x03) and discussed in section 9.6.1.4 of the datasheet.

There is not a requirement that AVDD be supplied by 5V.  The range of supply voltages that can be used is given in the Recommended Operating Conditions table in section 7.3. DVDD and IOVDD supply voltages are also given in the table.  AVDD, DVDD and IOVDD must be supplied to the ADS124S08 for the device to operate even if not shown in the diagrams on page 96 of the datasheet.

    Best regards,

    Bob B
