ADS7953: ADS7953 analog input

Part Number: ADS7953

Hello Team,

My customer uses ADS7953 to monitor the power supply. Their schematic is as below, you can find they monitor many power supplies. When they delete resistor R1538, and they use the scope to test the voltage is 0.59V, but they use SPI to read the voltage, it is 0.82V. I have double checked with Customer, they probe is OK.

1. I know we can't make analog input float, but why the voltage is different? (0.59V VS 0.82V) Can you help to explain it?

2. For 0.9V power supply, Huawei's threshold voltage is 0.72V, when our part monitor the voltage lower than 0.72V, their system think this power supply is abnormal, but you can find when we delete the resistor, there should be no 0.9V power supply, but our part read the voltage is 0.82V, which is higher than their threshold voltage, so their system can't detect this abnormal power supply. Do you have any suggestion to solve this problem?

Regards,

Nanfang

  • Nanfang,

We are looking into your request and will get back as soon as possible.

When R1538 is removed, ADC input is floating. The resultant voltage on capacitor C821 could be due to multiplexer leakage.

If any of the customer use case requires ADC input to be floating, iw ould recommend putting  high value pull down resistor at the input of the ADC.

When ADS7953 input is floating i wrecommend you to put  resistor (330k or more) in parallel with C821 and measure voltage at the ADC input.

    Thanks & Regards
