ADS5294EVM: eval board is not the same as REV C

Part Number: ADS5294EVM

Hi,

I have ADS5294EVM from last year which is a REV C and everything works good on this. I tested the board with the eval software(with USB comm) with TSW1400 and all the channels were good. As I had to use it for one of the systems, I disconnected the USB communication and provided SPI for the ADC through R5,R7 and R8 and everything worked as expected and the system has been running great. It's a combination of ADS5294EVM,TSW1400 and DAC3484EVM. Such great products

After this we ordered 2 more ADS5294EVM boards and they are REV D. They act slightly different than REV C, but for the most part work similar with eval software. When I did the same modifications for using my own SPI, it doesn't work. Also, channel 8 doesn't work on both boards with the same software/firmware I have from REV C. What is different in REV D compared to REV C. Can someone please send me a link to the schematic for REV D

Thanks,

Ramakrishna

  • Hello Ramakrishna,

We have received the inquiry about the ADS5294EVM and will get back to you with a response shortly.
  • Hi Praveen,
thanks for your reply and I did some more testing and the SPI configuration is working fine but not channel number 8. When I look at the rev C board it doesn't have a configurable option for to be used with either TSW1250 or TSW1400. Rev D has the option and it has two resistors R201 and R202 which I don't see on REV C. I am not sure, if the pin out of the high speed connector changed because of this option. That's the reason, I wanted to get hold of the schematic of ADS5294EVM Rev D to look at the mapping
    Thanks,
    Ramakrishna
  • Hi Ramakrishna,

The main reason I believe the Rev. D is not working is as you identified. This is a copy of the Rev. D schematic

Comparing the Rev. C and Rev. D schematics, I'ld say populating R201 and R202 with 0ohm resistors should get channel 8 working on the TSW1400 again.

    Sincerely,

    Olu
