hello,

I am working on the ECG monitoring using 12 lead. As per the datasheet of ADS1293 , I cannot understand the connections of the 12 leads to ADS1293. Please guide me to do so. And where can I get the breakout board of ADS1293?

Thanks for your interest in our ADS1293!

Have you looked at the evaluation board for the ADS1293? It is available from the ADS1293 product page: www.ti.com/.../toolssoftware.

Also, to do 12-lead ECG, you will need at least 8 channels. This is the minimum number of channels required to measure at least two primary leads and the six ventricular chest leads. Have you considered our ADS1298 instead?

Yes, I have looked for ADS1293, it is available, and the problem with ADS1298 is that it is way costlier than ADS1293 which I cannot afford. Also I have downloaded the ADS1293 software. But it does not have 12 lead configuration. So, what should I do?

Hi Anagha,

You can still use ADS1293 for your application, but you will need 3 of them for 12-lead ECG. Each device could share the same SPI bus as long as you use a separate GPIO on your microprocessor to control the individual CSB pins. The EVM software will not be able to support this, however, but it will allow you to evaluate the device performance and features of a single device before moving on to the next phase of your design.

Thank you. This was really helpful. But if I do use ADS1298, is there any EVM software for it? And does it support 12 lead configuration?

Hello Anagha - yes, the EVM for the ADS1298 does support 12-lead ECG and comes with it's own software for evaluation. There is a special tab in the GUI for ECG waveform display, which displays the limb and chest leads and also calculates the augmented leads for you as well (assuming the electrodes are configured as shown in the schematic).

Hello,

For final year project,can we interface ADS1298 separately with MSP430 or Arduino or Raspberry pi? Is there a breakout board available for ADS1298? And from where can I purchase it?

Hi Anagha - we only have the evaluation board (ADS1298ECGFE-PDK). The link will take you to the product page where you can order one.

There are header pins available on the daughterboard which you can use to interface to an external microcontroller. Just know that you will have to write your own software and our team does not have the capability to support that.
