DAC8775EVM: DAC8775 Pin Functions

Part Number: DAC8775EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC8775,

Hi,

in the circuit diagram of the EVM-Board the DAC8775 have another pin functions as described in the datasheet of the DAC8775.
The following pins have different names:
DAC8775EVM:
18 AGND_A, 9 AGND_B, 72 AGND_C, 69 AGND_D
56 AGND1, 35 AGND2, 45 AGND3
73 EP
DAC8775 datasheet:
18 PBKG chip substrate, 9 DCDC_AGND_AB, 72 DCDC_AGND_CD, 69 PBKG chip substrate
56 DAC_AGND_CD, 35 DAC_AGND_AB, 45 REFGND
73 thermal pad?
Which pin function description is correct?

  • Hi Dieter,

When in doubt, always refer to the datasheet of the IC.  Additionally, the "Pin Functions" and "Description" table in the datasheet includes more information in pin functionality.

The EVM pin descriptions seem to be truncated so they can fit on the IC symbol on the schematic.  You will notice that the chip substrate, AGND, and REFGND should always connect to a 0V supply, in this case the EVM connects all of these pins to AGND.

You are also correct in assuming pin 73 of the DAC8775 IC symbol presented in the EVM User's Guide is a pin description of the thermal pad.

If you have any other questions please let me know.

    Best Regards,

    Matt
