looking for alternative device as AD9914

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2581, LMX2582, DAC38RF84, LMX2592, LMX2594

Hi team,

my customer using right now AD9914.

I'm Looking for a replacement solution for AD9914, I know there is not one chip solution from TI and willing to hear about the solution with more components.
What recommendation if we use LMX2581 or LMX2582 (which have a better noise performance) Synthesizer for Radar S-Bands (3.5Ghz) used case .

Thanks in advance

 Shai

  • If the DDS/DAC output requirement is as high as s-band (2-4GHz), my recommendation is to start by looking at the DAC38RF84 (single DAC). This 9-GSPS DAC includes an integrated RF balun for converting to single-ended, and can be paired with an FPGA to create any DDS pattern you wish.
  • Dear Shai,

I understand you are looking for a DDS.

LMX2582 (20MHz to 5.5 GHz), LMX2592 (to 9.8 GHz) or LMX2594 (10 MHz to 15 GHz) will provide you with low phase noise source based on single loop PLL. The phase noise performance rivals with the best IC's on the market. Because they are base on PLL , chaging frequency cannot be as fast as a DDS. For LMX2594, we can offer switching speed in the range of 5 usec.

I you are only looking for a DDS, I have sent your message to some who will help you out with respect to these devices.

Let me know if we can be of assistance with our single loop higher performance PLL.

    Regards, Simon.
  • Hello Philip,

Thank you for your advise and appreciated your fast response as well.

  • Simon Hello,

Currently the client is evaluating the LMX2582 , I will definitely turn to you when I have questions.
and will offer him to overview the LMX2594 which is a great part.
    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,
