USB2ANY

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY, PGA900

Hello.

I bought a pga900evm which comes with the usb2any. I suspect that the usb2any is not working & therefore I was wondering how I can order one of these? I cannot seem to find it anywhere online or on the TI website, which doesnt make much sense that I have to order the whole evaluation module again if just the USB2ANY is damaged? Please how can I exchange or replace this and get a working one?

The USB2ANY does provide power as expected when connected to the pga900 gu (Pin 6 of connector J4 on the USB2ANY board. Provides +3.3V. Pin 6 of connector J5 on the USB2ANY provides +5V). but I am unable to use it to change the registers or anything using SPI, OWI or I2C communication with PGA900EVM (I bought 2 extra PGA900 chips to make sure these were not the damaged ones.

  • Hello,

Unfortunately there is no way to order a standalone USB2ANY. Are you able to interface with the USB2ANY itself at all? Can you check the firmware that is loaded on the USB2ANY by running the firmware loader that should have been included with your GUI installation. The USB2ANY folder is here: C:\Program Files (x86)\TI USB2ANY SDK and the firmware loader is in the bin folder.

    Regards,
  • Hi.

I have loaded the firmware USB2ANY_2_6_3_2 and the pga900 gui version is 3.3.0.0

The usb2any does connect to the gui and when I click on any of the buttons the gui changes the low level configuration and vice versa as expected.

The only thing that does not work as expected is if I click on OWI or I2C if the USB2ANY is not disconnected it crashes but I think this is by design

When I connect the pga900evm and I try to read the adc or dac or when I change the bridge resistance up and down clicking on balance bridge does not reset the numbers to the default vaues 289.7 ohms (both when the pga900 is connected and when it is not) EEPROM read gives zero meaning no communication with the pga900 chip.

I am not sure if it is the usb2any, pga900evm or the pga900gui that is not working. At the moment the usb2any seems to work as expected & nothing unusual. the pga900 evm I changed the pga900 chip so I am not sure what else could go wrong there since I am not using OWI or the digital bridge IC. All the power regulators give out the correct voltages and my connections are fine since I am using the same ones I was when it was working.

This sort of leaves the GUI which I have uninstalled and re-installed but nothing changed. I had to leave the evaluation for weeks which is obviously not good for my job's sake because I cannot get it to work & I cannot risk buying another without knowing exactly what is the problem with this one.
