ADS7830: Analog input current consumtpion

Part Number: ADS7830

Hi,

We need to know how much current will consume at CH0~CH7 pins.  From the datasheet, the current value seems related to data rate of these analog input signals.  Currently my customer is using the chip to sense voltage level of some signals on their board, so there's not a specific data rate.  Please tell what is the current consumption on these pins based on such application scenario.

Thanks!

  • Antony,

We are looking into this question and will get back with you soon.
  • Hi Antony,

The current consumption of CH0 - CH7 is dependent on:

    1) Sampling frequency
    2) Signals being sampled

Aside from the input leakage current of +/- 1 uA, these pins consume current when charging the internal sample and hold capacitor which is otherwise high impedance. In a worst case scenario where the sample and hold capacitor must be charged from 0V to a full 5V at a full throughput of 70 kSPS, the current consumption per channel will be approximately 1.2 uA (plus the leakage current).
