ADS42JB49: JESD204B

Dear colleagues,

our idea is to switch from analog to digital domain as earlier as possible in measurement system, and put the ADC closer to signal source.

The question is, what is the maximum physical length of JESD 204B lines between ADS42JB49 and Altera transceivers? Is there any app notes?

    We have done tests with extender boards that provided an additional 16 inches of trace length between our ADC boards and FPGA capture board with no problems. As long as you are not concerned about latency, you can use a very larger elastic buffer to adjust for skew between lanes. The only issue I see with your possible setup is signal integrity. How long do you plan on making these traces? What type of board material do you plan on using? If possible, do simulations with your system and verify the signal quality at the receiver end and compare this to the electrical specification overview section (4.1) of the JESD204B standard.
