ADS1271: Occasional errors in output data

Part Number: ADS1271

Hello,

I have an ADS1272 connected to an MSP430 via SPI. Master clock and serial clock are 6 MHz supplied from 2 sources. The ADC is in high speed mode. Data is received by the MSP's 8 bit SPI in 3 steps. It works fine with the exception of occasional errors in the ADC output data. These errors only occur at higher magnitudes (> 20% of full scale) and they also get more frequent at lower input signal frequencies (<2 Hz). I have no explanation for that. The erroneous samples often have zeros in the lower 8 or 16 bits. May be this is because the SPI sometimes misses the first byte? I have checked SCLK. It looks clean, as well as AVDD and DVDD. What else could I do?

Regards

Jan
