DAC7715: comparability with 3.3v controller

Hello,

We are currently using the DAC7715 with an Infenion 5v controller and its working fine.

Will the same be compatible with a 3.3v controller?

Hi Arun,

Looks like the VIH for that device is specified as a minimum of 3.325V, meaning that we only guarantee that a logic level high will only be detected if the voltage is 3.325V or higher. It is possible that a 3.3V controller may work, but we do not guarantee that it will work under all conditions, such as supply voltage, temperature, and communication speed.

ok thanks.Could you recomend an equivallent DAC which will work of 3.3v rail?
Also if i use a level shifter something like SN74LV1T34 ,will it solve the issue?

Hi Arun,

A level shifter like the one you listed would work well. I am not aware of a pin-for-pin compatible DAC, but you could consider the DAC60004 as a replacement.

Thanks for this.Do you have any DAC with -10 to +10v range which can be operated with a 3.3v controller?
The DAC60004 operates from 0 to 5.5v onlu??

You could consider the DAC8734, which is 16bit, but has a very wide output range.
