ADS1262: Strain Gauge and Wheatstone Bridge reading for pressure sensors, force transducers with sensitivity of 2 mV/V and 1 mV/V

Part Number: ADS1262

Dear Support Team,

We are trying to implement a Wheatstone bridge reading ability to our controller, The sensors that we are willing to read are force transducers, pressure sensors and load cells that have 1mV/V sensitivity. For this purpose, we are planning to use ADS1262IPWR.

Since it is a 32-bit ΔΣ ADC, and it has 128 gain on its PGA I believe we can read this type of sensors with ADS1262.  Please let me know If I can read such sensors with ADS126x, I wonder if this component is suitable for this purpose?

Best Regards.

  • Hi Sarper,

The ADS1262 is definitively suitable for Wheatstone bridge measurements.

The integrated PGA in the ADS1262 will only provide gains up to 32 V/V; however, it still provides very high resolution measurements for small-signals. If you decide to excite the bridge with a 5V source, you can feed this voltage directly to the ADC's reference input to create a ratiometric measurement. If you need to use a larger excitation voltage, then you'll need to divide it down to 5V before supplying it to the ADC.

    Best regards,
    Chris
