DAC80508: Tri-state output?

Hi Team,

I have a customer who has a question about the DAC80508: Is it possible to switch the output into a High-Z state? The datasheet is not clear on this.

Hi Mihir,

Thank you for your query. The DAC80508 has an internal pull-down of 1k Ohms to ground, which gets activated on power-down. The output amplifiers are switched off in this mode. Hence, the DAC won't be driving anything on these pins. We don't have a high-Z option at the output.

Hi Uttam,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

The customer needs a DAC that has a tri-state output, where the output pins can be set to High-Z. Something like the DAC8750, but with more channels. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi Mihir,

In oredr to suggest the right DAC, please provide me some more details on the requirement. Please note that DAC8750 is a current output DAC while DAC80508 is voltage output. Could you please answer the following questions:

1. Resolution
2. No of channels
3. Voltage/Current output
4. Output range
5. End equipment

The requirements are:

1. Resolution >= 10 bits
2. 8 Channels
3. Small Package
4. Voltage Output
5. End Equipment : Medical Diagnostics.

You can look into DAC7568. It has the High-Z output option.
