ADS1118-Q1: Data Rate VS temperature

Part Number: ADS1118-Q1

Hi team,

My customer use 2 pcs ADS1118-Q1 in their system, and measuring 6 channel battery voltage in turn. They set the sample rate as 860SPS, and every 5ms to enable 2 single shot conversion.

And I wondering if high temperature will have any effect on the data conversion rate, since the data rate will change along with temperature.

  • Fery,

As shown in the Figure 3 that you've shown in the last post, the data rate does change with temperature. I would say that the typical characteristic curve is just a typical curve, and may not represent all cases.

For changes in data rate, I would go to the Electrical Characteristics table and look at the specification for data rate variation. This is listed as ±10% (for all data rates). Using the 860SPS data rate, the typical data period would be 1.16ms. However, with data rate variation, you must add on extra time to account for the data rate being 10% slower. Every 5ms, start the conversion, and the data conversion will complete within 1.3ms. Note that I've added on an extra 20ms to wake up the converter to start a single-shot conversion.
