For TLV2541 A/D converter:  If someone has  just  one analog input can that be  connectd to  AINO and AIN1 together? Will this effectively double the sample rate?

    Assuming you mean the TLV2542,  in theory, yes - you would 'double' the sample rate on a single input tied to both AIN0 and AIN1.  My question to you would be why not just use the TLV2541 to start with?  The TLV2542 will go back and forth between the two inputs sampling/converting each one in turn for an effective throughput of up to 100KSPS/channel.  If the same analog input is applied to both channels, your effective throughput is going to be 200KSPS maximum, which is the TLV2451...  If you are hoping for 400KSPS, we'll need to point you to a different device.

    This is a simple reiteration from what Tom mentioned previously.

    For each frame, the TLV2542 works by either sampling AIN0 and converting AIN1, or sampling AIN1 and converting AIN0. Thus, when using two different analog inputs, the throughput is actually reduced by half. If the same signal is applied, then there is not throughput reduction. In other words, with AIN0=AIN1, the throughput is not doubled but it is simply kept without reduction.

    For example with the maximum throughput of 200KSPS, we have the two following cases:

    1) For two different signals in channels, throughput is 200KSPS/2 = 100KSPS
     

    2) Same signal in both channels: throughput is simply 200KSPS because the same signal is sampled every frame
