CCS/ADS1232: How to calculate weight from ADS1232

Part Number: ADS1232

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi

i need some help for calculating weight from output adc value(ADS1232).(load cell is connected at the input pins AINP1 & AINN1 ,vcc is 3.3v,) ?

  • Hi Aju,

Unfortunately I cannot give a simple answer as I do not know the specifics about your load cell or how you have the pins connected to the ADS1232.  The code to weight conversion will depend greatly on the gain you are using for the ADS1232, the excitation voltage of the load cell and the sensitivity of the load cell.  There will be some offset to the load cell, and the load cell itself is not totally linear so it is best to calibrate the load cell for you system.  I would suggest you take a look at the ADS1232REF user's guide on page 8 in section 2.1.1 that shows how the weight calculation is done.

If you have specific questions I would be glad to help answer them, but I would like to see your schematic as well as know the sensitivity (mV/V) of your load cell and the maximum weight you can apply to the load cell.

    Best regards,
