ADS1298RECGFE-PDK: Regarding Defibrillator protection circuit

Part Number: ADS1298RECGFE-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1298R, ADS1298

Hello,

1) We are designing our own hardware using Reference of ADS1298R.We want to implement defibrillation protection circuit.

a) can you please tell me where we should place defib circuit?

b) And also can you please let us know if we can use a neon lamp or TVS for defib circuit?

c) if you can provide any reference defib protection circuit that we can implement??

2) For patient protection Resistor, is there any range of resistor value that we can follow? or any relevant document which we can refer to??

Thanks,

Keval Dalwadi

  • Hi Kevel,

It's a little difficult to give specific instructions on how you should setup your ADS1298 system for defibrillation since each end equipment will have it's own specific requirements regarding safety for the patient. Neon lamps are fine, TVS devices can have leakage currents that will impact performance of the system.

The best place for you to start documentation wise, is to review the IEC 60601 standards for the safety and essential performance of medical electrical equipment.
