PGA970: Newbie need help to start

The generic firmware is an excellent starting point. I recommend using this to being the firmware development process. Please follow the PGA970 software quickstart guide to begin the evaluation: www.ti.com/.../sldu025.pdf

You can use this firmware with versions of CCS 6 or later. However, it is important that you have the correct compiler version installed which is ti-cgt-arm_5.2.6 (ti-cgt-arm_5.2.9 has also been proven to work). Please refer to this article with information on how to install compiler updates: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Compiler_Updates

Typically device initialization is done in a special initialization function outside of the main loop. Currently I do not have a good example for this on hand, but I can post a short example by the end of next week.

I was mistaken before. The reference firmware includes a device configuration function already. You can see this in the pga970_main.c file before the while loop here:

   {

           APP_Calculate_Coeff();
           while((ADC_Count1 & Coefficients_Calc_Sampling_Rate) == 0x0000);
       }

CFG_Peripheral_Config() is located in the pga970_cfg.c file in the oem folder and it initializes all of the main settings of the device.
