ADS129x START pin behavior in standby mode

Once standby mode has been entered by asserting the STANDBY command, will the device ignore any toggling on the START pin? Figure 40 in the datasheet shows the start signal shared between two ADS129x's, and I just wanted to verify this shared connection will not have any negative affect on a pair of ADS129x's if one is operational, and the other is in in standby mode.

Thanks!

  • Hi AM,

We will try to make the wording in the datasheer clearer - placing the chip in standby mode is not the same as keeping START pin LOW.

Standby mode powers down all circuits except reference section.  Keeping START pin LOW does not power down anything.  Toggling START pin HIGH while the device is in standby mode will not trigger new conversions, so your shared START input should not have any negative effect on the device placed in standby mode.
