Hello TI,
My customer is looking for a dual 3GHz ADC to evaluate for an upcoming project. We’re in competition with Analog Devices AD9208.
They need an Eval Board for a Dual-Channel 3 GSPS 14-bit ADC to interface with a Xilinx eval board (likely via FMC). They are leaning towards the following 2 boards:
- TI TSW40RF80EVM: http://www.ti.com/tool/tsw40rf80evm
- Analog Devices AD9208-3000EBZ: http://www.analog.com/en/design-center/evaluation-hardware-and-software/evaluation-boards-kits/EVAL-AD9208.html
With regards to the TI board can you confirm that the TI board interfaces directly to Xilinx Eval Boards via FMC?
From Customer:
- The feature of the AD9208 ADC is that it can timestamp data at the ADC itself. On Page 25 of Analog Devices’ AD9208 datasheet, it says “The SYSREF± pin in the AD9208 can also be used as a timestamp of data as it passes through the ADC and out of the JESD204B interface.”
- I thought TI was doing something similar on their ADCs (other ones I’ve used), but didn’t see that here: ADC32RF45
- This is something I want to set-up as soon as possible in conjunction with one of the newer Xilinx Dev boards. Actually this app note is similar to we want to do (except use Xilinx instead to their Altera solution):
- http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slaa752/slaa752.pdf
- Here’s the flow for this particular application:
- Dual_3GHz_ADC (w/timestamp) -> Xilinx Kintex or Virtex -> PCI-E Gen3 -> PC -> Matlab
If you can comment on this I think my customer would start with TI using the TI TSW40RF80EVM Eval Board instead of the Analog Devices AD9208-3000EBZ Eval Board.
Thanks,
Dan
