DAC38RF82EVM: PLL frequency invalid in DAC38RF82EVM GUI

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out how to use the dual DAC (12bits) mode with a sampling rate of 3GSPS. However, the DAC38RF82EVM GUI keeps telling that the PLL frequency is invalid.

I checked the datasheet and userguide of the DAC, but I didn't figure out the meaning of valid PLL frequency. Can anyone tell me what's the criteria of a valid PLL frequency?

Hi Tong,

The supported frequencies are 5.24G to 6.72G and 7.96G to 9G.
This is given in section 7.8 of the datasheet.

The maximum sampling frequency of dual DAC mode is 3.33GSPS, which is not in the region of the supported frequencies of PLL. Does this mean that I can only use external clock for dual DAC mode?

Hi Tong,

You can use 2x interpolation to increase the max sample rate to 6.66 GHz which can be supported by the PLL.
