ADS7142: Timing specification - DEVICE_RESET & OFFSET_CAL

Part Number: ADS7142

Hello,

Could you please let me know if there are timings available for the following:

1) What is the maximum time required for offset calibration command (OFFSET_CAL register)

2) What is the maximum time required for reset command (DEVICE_RESET register)?

  • Hello Dean,

We are analyzing the ADS7142 design to arrive at the max time for both the reset and offset calibration commands. Please give me a day to get back to you.

    In the meantime, please note:

    1. The BUSY/RDY signal will go low during the execution of either of these command. So ideally the host should ensure that this signal is high before issuing any subsequent commands.

    2. If the device is configured for and operating in any conversion mode, an ABORT command should be issued before issuing an offset calibration command.

    Regards,

    Sandeep

  • Dean,

The execution times for both these commands are not spec’ed on the ADS7142 and there can be variation in these timings from device to device.

Nonetheless, as per the design, the offset calibration will take a maximum of 50us to execute. The reset command will take a maximum of 4.85ms to execute.

As mentioned in the earlier post, it is best to monitor the BUSY/RDY signal status before issuing any subsequent command to the device.

    Regards,

    Sandeep
