PGA900: Application : precision multimeter

Part Number: PGA900

Hi TI Engineers,

I wouls like to ask if it's possible to create a precision multimeter with a PGA900. Basically, I want to mesure resistance with very hight precision, but as i read the PGA900 datasheet it appears to be that only pressure and tempemrature are measurable ? can you help me ?

  • Hello,

On the most basic level, the inputs to the PGA900 are differential voltages, not pressures or temperatures. Most pressure sensors are simply a wheatstone bridge (en.wikipedia.org/.../Wheatstone_bridge). The wheatstone bridge can be used in your application to measure resistance. As long as the resistance of 3 of the resistors in the bridge is known, you can calculate the resistance of the 4th resistor based on the differential voltage of the bridge.

    Regards,
