About the ADS1220 two-wire system and four-wire system

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1220

Hello, about ADS1220 two wire system and four wire system, the design is on my side, in the four wire equipment acquisition temperature the right circumstances, two wire ADS1220 change, only change the configuration register in the program and read after the sampling value of resistance calculation formula two wire system with four wire line length is the same but, at the same temperature environment, I don't know why the two wire system with four wire read samples values obtained by conversion of larger temperature gap and two wire readout of temperature is higher than the actual temperature of 4 or more should I don't know how to change the program or hardware hope you can answer are looking forward to your reply, thank you

  • Hi user4967788,

I am not clear as to what you are asking, but I will guess that you are talking about 2-wire and 4-wire RTDs. The configuration for the ADS1220 would be the same, but the difference is in the connection. The 2-wire RTD includes the lead resistance in the measurement path. The 4-wire RTD uses a Kelvin connection for the RTD measurement so that only the RTD is measured. The 2-wire will always be less accurate and more susceptible to drift as compared to the 4-wire RTD.
