Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1298

I tied my PWDN & RESET & CLKSEL pins high when I powerup the ads1298 wait 5 sec before start is high drdy shows low  if start is high and I poll drdy a small amount of time it is high.

Now I have not reset the chip except pluging its power supply in.

I have not sent a reset or any other serial commands.

I think the chip starts in read data continous and if that is the case and start is tied low early in the program maby it did one conversion so I toggle sclk 2 times.

DRDY still shows low.

I tied some pins low the inputs are not tied low but as defalt might be shorted.

dout and din are not tied yet.

  • Now that I wired in the sclk pin and toggled it before reading drdy when start was pulled low the reading was high on drdy that makes sence start didn't start conversions and if it did a conversion before start was high that part needed to be shifted out and reset wasn't run.

  • Hi Josh,

Not sure I understand where this is going - is there a question here or are you simply making observations?  The device should not automatically start converting on power up.  If you have a noisy supply or if the control pins change state while your power supply is settling or if noise is getting into the control pins due to the 'proto board' and associated wire leads from your open source board to the host processor, weird things might happen.
