ADS42JB49EVM: ADC and KC705 interfacing

Part Number: ADS42JB49EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS42JB49

Hi,

I have setup ADS42JB49 , TSW14J10  and KC705 system by following TSW14J10 FMC-USB Interposer Card user guide.

Connected ADS42JB49 and KC705 using interposer card.

Set jumper settings on TSW14J10EVM to route JTAG signals to FMC (JP2 , JP5 2-3)

Configured ADC using ADS42JB49_EVM_LMF421_250M.cfg file (available along with ADS42JBxx EVM GUI installation)

Through HSDC GUI I have downloaded the available firmware for KC705 (TSW14J10_KC705.svf).

But I could see that FPGA is not being configured and none of the LED glows as mentioned in the user guide. Am I missing any steps in the setup process. Any help on this will be appreciated.

Do you have the ribbon cable connected between the TSW14J10 and the KC705, as shown in the attached picture? This is required to download the source code to the FPGA.

  • Hi Jim,

I did not connect the ribbon cable. The below lines are from TSW14J10 EVM user guide

If the FPGA development platform has the JTAG signals routed on the FMC connector, jumpers JP2-5 can be set (shunt pins 2-3) to route these signals to the FMC connector instead of the JTAG connector.

I understand this as either ribbon cable or  jumper settings to route JTAG signals to FMC is required for the FPGA programming. Do you mean we can program FPGA only using ribbon cable. Then what do we achieve by shunting JP2 and JP5.

I will connect the JTAG cable and update you

  • Yogitha,

By default, we prefer customers to use the ribbon cable and set JP2-JP5 shunts to pins 1-2. For some reason, there is an issue with the KC705 that does not allow the TSW14J10 to use the FMC connections but I cannot remember why.

    Regards,

    Jim
