DAC38J84EVM: DAC38J84EVM

Part Number: DAC38J84EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC38J84

A DAC38J84 evaluation board ( DAC3XJ8X Rev D)  that is being used in a project is not functioning.

The error message  is USB not recognised.  Tried it in different Pc  usb ports and with different micro usb cables.

The same error  appears.

Is it likely to be the FTDI FT223332 IC that is defective?

  • Yes, that is most likely. You can try in a completely different PC just to be sure it is not computer related. On rare occasions I have seen that device go bad and exhibit the error that you describe. You can open your control panels and see if the PC recognizes if any device is plugged in. You can try to use the FTDI program FTProg (available from their web page) to see if you can get access to the port. You can also try to uninstall the program and re-install it so that the FTDI drivers gets re-installed.

If it is indeed bad, you may submit the unit for a return through the channel that you originally purchased/acquired it.
