ADS8691: Extra electronics

Part Number: ADS8691
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8681EVM-PDK

Hi all,

Is there no need for extra electronical parts like resistors or capacitors in case I use the ADS8691 except for the one's that the datasheet show for the internal/external reference?

What i'm doing is read analog signals form a sensor to a MCU. I want to program the ADC to work with a bipolar input.

best regards,

Dukel

  • Hi Dukel,
For the components(resistor and capacitor) on the reference, please refer to the figure 53 if you use internal reverence and figure 60 if you use external reference.
For the components(resistor and capacitor) on the front-end before ADC's input, a balanced RC filter is recommended, please refer the user's guide for ADS8681EVM-PDK.
Please combine all your questions about one same device into one thread on the forum if it's possible. Thanks.

    Best regards

  • Hi Dale,

Do you mean this circuit as RC filter for the front end:

If I just use a function generator and so no sensor with noise do I still need the RC filter. For the time being I'm going to doe tests with a oscilloscope and function generator.

    Best regards

  • Hi Dukel,

For test purpose, you can apply a clean signal from generator directly without these components. For your real design, these are recommended to limit the noise.

    Best regards
