ADS7950: Minimum SCLK frequency

Part Number: ADS7950

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask ADS7950?
How much is the minimum SCLK frequency?
Or, is there the regulation for the minimum SCLK?

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hello Matsumoto san

Thanks for posting your query on E2E.

ADS7950 datasheet graph (figure 9 and Figure 10) shows that device can be operated at sampling speed of around few tens of ksps. This corresponds to fairly low clock frequency. Sometimes at very low clocks speeds due to internal capacitor leakage you may see slightly degraded performance. So you need to take care that into account.

Do you have the spec on minimum clock speed that host controller can provide. Lets assume host controller can support 1MHz clock frequency then ADS7950 can operate at 50ksps.

    Thanks & Regards

    Thank you for your reply.

We could not understand the content which you mentioned correctly.

On the datasheet P9, it shows that the maximum f(SCLK) SCLK frequency shows 20MHz.
Regaldress of  host controller, how much is the minimum f(SCLK) SCLK frequency?
Or, should we regards as the minimum f(SCLK) SCLK frequency = 1MHz?

    Kind regards,

  • Hello Matsumoto san

As I said in my previous post you may see some performance degradation when you operate the device at very slow clock speed. I would recommend you to restrict the minimum clock speed to 200kHz for reliable device performance.

Can you please let me know if you have any system limitation that is imposing this minimum clock speed requirement.

    Thanks & Regards

  • Abhijeet san,

    Thank you for your reply!
    OK, we got it.
