Monitor Pressure Sensor using Arduino

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1120, ADS112C04, ADS112U04, ADS1115, ADS1118

Hey I have wanted to read the analog reading from pressure sensor using Arduino but I am not aware about  ADC IC which will help to convert the my analog to Digital data by using very low power. Your suggestion will be very helpful.

  • Hello Nate,

We have a great resource online for reading material and overall system solutions, our Industrial Applications Overview can help navigate through the collateral  created for different applications.

I would suggest taking a look at our Industrial Current-Output Pressure Sensor Transmitter Reference Design,  I believe it should be helpful for you to get started on narrowing down what parameters needed for your specific application.

We have an extensive portoflio and sure we can find the right part for your application.

    Regards

    Cynthia

  • Hi Nate,

from the link you provided it is not 100% clear to me which pressure sensor output type you are looking at.

If it is the 2-wire 4-20mA type, then you might want to start looking at ADS1120 first.
In case you need higher resolution, better accuracy or higher data rates we have other options to look at.
Also in case you prefer a certain interface, we offer spins of ADS1120 (SPI) with I2C (ADS112C04) and UART (ADS112U04) interface as well.

In case the ADS1120 is still too high power for your application, then ADS1118 (SPI) or its counterpart ADS1115 (I2C) could be options.

In any case you will have to translate the 4-20mA signal into a voltage signal by use of a burden resistor. The ADC will then measure the voltage across that resistor.
