ADS8688EVM-PDK: GUI Error "SDCC Interface not detected"

Part Number: ADS8688EVM-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8684

The ADS8688EVM GUI was working recently and has since stopped. The problem is "SDCC interface not detected". Things I've checked:

1. The drivers seem to be installed, although my computer still thinks the device is generic bulk device.

2. SD cards installed on SDCC board and EVM board.

3. Lights on SDCC board: one on, and one flashing.

4. 5v = 5.5V, AVDD = 5V, DVDD = 3.3V.

5. Jumpers in their default locations.

  • Hello Nikolai,

Was anything changed before and now? including Windows version on your PC.

    1.  This is correct, please check driver information as below which is screenshot from my laptop Win 10.

    2. Have you changed your SD card? the SD for EVM can only be used for EVM, the SD card for SDCC can only be used for SDCC.

    3. D5 on SDCC should be on, D2 should be flashing.

    4. If it still doesn't work, can you check both SD cards with a card reader to make sure that the configuration files are still good in SD cards?

The  location for the configuration files on your PC:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\ADS8684_8 EVM GUI\Configuration Files\App & MLO Files

    • app_sdcc is to be renamed as app and copied to SDCC SD card.
    • app_evm  is to be renamed as app and copied to EVM SD card.
    • MLO file is to be copied to SDCC SD card.

    Best regards

    Dale

  • Thanks Dale!

I solved the problem with your help.

Using my SD card reader I discovered that the EVM SD card was corrupt, and looked like this:

So I formatted the card, copied the new file over, and renamed the file.
Lastly, I had to go into windows device manager and uninstall 'generic bulk device' driver.
I did this so that windows could rediscover and install the appropriate drivers.

    Cheers

    -Nikolai
