Linux/TVP5150: Linux Driver

Part Number: TVP5150
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5146,

Tool/software: Linux

Hello,

I am looking into replacing the TVP5146 with the TVP5150.  This video decoder is currently connected to a DaVinci Processor.  Can I use the same driver for the TVP5150 as I did for the TVP5146?  I did find a driver on TI's site that looked promising, but I am unsure if there are any compatibility issues with our old version of Linux and V4L2 framework it employs.

Thanks,

Will Alarcon

  • I don't think the exact same low level driver can be used since the configuration registers are different.

I would anticipate that it is only the devices initialization that needs to be changed though.

Once the devices are configured their output formats are the same, so higher level drivers/libraries should be fine.

I can't comment more on the software side of things unfortunately. I recommend posting the question in DaVinci forums.

    BR,

    Steve
