ADS131E08: ADS131E08 gets stuck

Part Number: ADS131E08

Hello TI team,

we also have a reset problem with the ADS131E08.

(By the way your answer of Ming's question "Is hardware RESET/ pin or PWDN\ pin can deal with this issue?" is still missing. Please make your answer of Ming's question public.)

Here's the description of our problem:

  • Power-up, initialize ADS131E08,  whole system is running, verification of the initalized register values is ok.
  • Now we do a hardware reset by pulling down the RESET# pin and want to re-initialize the ADS131E08 (same procedure we do after power-up).
  • Verification by reading back the register values fails because of wrong values(?).

What's the difference between power-up and pulling down the RESET line?

Can you describe which parts of the ADS131E08 are affected by the RESET line?

Please tell us how to reset the ADS131E08 correctly.

Our system has to run 24 hours / day and if there arises a problem we need a possibility  to recover the system without switching off an on.

Thanks for your help in advance!

  • Hi Kalle8319,

After you do the hardware reset (bullet point 2 above), what values do you read back for point three? The RESET pin on the ADS131E08 should revert the registers back to their default values (see Table 10, page 39). Figure 65 (page 61) shows the main differences between the power on reset and the application of the physical RESET pin. The minimum pulse width on the RESET pin and the time delay required to completely reset the ADS131E08 are also shown there.

Essentially there is no difference between the power-up reset and the application of the hardware RESET by pulsing the pin low. If you can share timing diagrams of your reset and initialization sequence, we'd be happy to review that for you.
